Flowers for the Curtains

Here are the flowers Abrielle made for the curtains! Can't wait to see them on the window.

The first step involves ripping 1 1/2" strips of satin fabric
Then the strip is folded and wrapped around itself to create a rose:

Shopping for Fabrics

The color scheme for the room will be gray (to go with the wall color and carpet) and white but the accent color is proving to be a dilemma for Megan. Purple is Megan's favorite color so she thought it would be nice to have purple as the accent color since it goes so well with gray. However, she had already purchased a chandelier with pink crystals. Joanna and Megan finally decided upon pink because it is a softer look for a baby and also goes extremely well with gray. The final deciding factor was when Joanna suggested she decorate with purple and gray in the master bedroom. Sold! =)

With the colors decided, we were off to the stores looking for just the right fabrics and trims.

We chose satiny, soft polyesters that would be delicate yet washable. Aren't these just yummy? The pink was chosen because of it's color but also because of it's great draping ability since it will be used for the swags.

This white sparkly sheer was chosen to go over the gray panels as the tied back overlays.

Megan fell in love with the rose-embossed fleece fabric. We will use this and the gray suede on the glider for those late night rocks back to sleep. The pink fleece will also be used to line the inside of the bumper pads. The plush white fleece will be for the crib sheet.

A successful shopping trip! The only thing left to find is the pale gray sheer for the side panels of the canopy.

The Story of Adelyn's Beginning

Megan Cordell and Benjamin Buckley both grew up in London, Ohio and on the many occasions they saw each other around town they had a strong desire to get to know each other even more. They knew a little about each other, but had never met. All they knew for sure was that they wanted to get to know each other more. Ben knew that Megan worked at the library in London and had decided that since he had a book to return he would use that as an excuse to go there and ask Megan on a date. He went to the library and returned his book, but did not ask her on a date. As he was leaving he called his friend and told him he did not ask her on a date and his friend encouraged him to go back in and ask her. He went back inside and explained to Megan that the real reason he was there was to ask her on a date. She said she would like to go on a date, but wanted to talk on the phone first so she gave him her phone number. Ben realized on his way home that Megan never said when would be a good time for him to call her so Ben decided that he would call her later that night and ask her when would be a good time to talk. When Ben called Megan to ask when would be a good time to talk they ended up talking on the phone for hours that night. As they talked to each other they realized how much they had in common. Ben asked Megan if she would like to go to dinner and a movie and she said yes. On their first date they had great time and decided they would like to spend more time together. Their 2 years of dating were filled with many fun times together.

On some special occasions Ben would take Megan in a limousine to some of the finest restaurants around the Columbus and Cincinnati area. On one occasion Ben had the limousine filled with 200 assorted roses when it picked Megan up.

He surprised her one time by driving them to Cincinnati for dinner at a fine restaurant and then a “Cinderella like” carriage ride around Old Cincinnati.

On another occasion he surprised Megan by flying them to Washington D.C. for the day just to get away and have some fun and then surprising her once more by giving her a promise ring. She gladly accepted the ring and later surprised him with a promise ring for him to wear. They had their “ups and downs,” but one thing was certain and that was their relentless passionate love for each other. They had after 2 years of dating decided that getting engaged was an option in the near future.
They got engaged on November 11, 2004

when Ben surprised Megan by coming to her nursing school and taking her once again to Cincinnati. She did not know where they were going, but she suspected when they arrived there that this time might be different. They arrived in Cincinnati and went on a riverboat cruise. It was a cold and rainy night, but very romantic. They eventually made their way onto the deck of the boat where when Ben felt the time was right got down on one knee and proposed to Megan. Megan was so surprised and excited that tears filled her eyes and of course she said... YES! They were married on November 11, 2006, exactly 2 years after getting engaged.
